Chelsea Flower Show 2022
So very happy to have been asked by The Newt in Somerset to make some paper flowers for their stand at RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
This year The Newt in Somerset are the RHS Chelsea headline sponsors.
The Newt in Somerset is a working estate in rural Somerset. Inspired by local heritage and sustainable agriculture, their land includes farmland, orchards, restaurants, a cyder cellar and luxury hotel.
Their stand at Chelsea will be a story of gardening, a tour through the historical periods. my inspiration was to be that of the broken tulips seen in paintings in the renaissance period.
A Special Postcard
My Lovely friend Laura asked me one day if I had watched The Power of The Dog on Netflix. She said that the boy in the film made paper flowers.
As soon as I settled down that evening I grabbed the popcorn and settled down to watch, by goodness it was good! I mean no wonder it received 12 Oscar Nominations.
I posted the Director, Jane Campion a copy of my Book, a paper rose and a letter.
Not much time passed when I received a postcard from Australia. Could it be?
THE Jane Campion had written me a reply!
She actually wrote - “we sure could have used your helping experience in working out how Peter would make his clever homemade flowers”
How completely amazing and generous for such a busy person to hand write and post a letter to the UK for me to treasure and in moments of low self esteem and high feelings of imposter syndrome I can take a look and read.
Many many Thanks Jane and for anyone who hasn’t seen it, its a must watch!
The Platinum Jubilee
Today I posted a very special package for Her Majesty The Queen. In honour of her Platinum Jubilee, I handmade and gifted her some of my paper flowers, including her favourite, Lily of The Valley.
I really hope she gets to see them and she likes them!
